A picture of scrabble words DOGE and MUSK.

The Musk Economics

As time goes by, we realize that the true President of the United States is not Donald Trump, whom the Republicans voted for. However, it’s the father of many children but dad to none, Elon Musk.

Elon Musk, the billionaire who owns Tesla, SpaceX, and a handful of other companies, including X (previously known as Twitter), is now running the United States. That, too, as a conservative party ally. You may see how concerning this situation sounds.

DOGE

The Department of Government Efficiency is Elon’s brainchild. He wanted to reduce government spending by adding another department to do that, and he is doing that.

However, everything he has removed is just countering the United States’ soft power in other countries. The funds used to go to helping people, such as giving money to researchers to solve tough problems and helping people in other countries, which some democrats might not agree with as well. Why help people in other countries when you can help them in yours, even though you have the money to do both, am I right? This is all going to come to a halt. The teeny-tiny amount of goodwill that was being thrown out by the Government of the United States, making them a not-so-bad country, will now diminish. All thanks to the IT couple, ‘Mump’ (Musk + Trump).

DEI

Musk’s musky department has also been hellbent on reducing DEI programs not only in the government but also urging private companies to do the same. As we all know, private companies will do whatever is profitable to them, and at this point, it’s reducing DEI and opting for less diversity. Even though, DEI programs have been good for including a variety of opinions in decision-making.

Another place where Musk put his hands on was the Federal Aviation Administration. Reducing the number of employees by firing DEI hires and stopping the department from hiring more people, resulting in understaffing of the administration. This might have also caused the midair crash in Virginia.

Yet, when blamed, Trump blamed it all on the Democratic Party and refused to take responsibility, which is very typical of him. This man will do anything but own up to the problems he’s created. His actions are an avalanche heading to destroy the United States, with its citizens’ feet frozen in the snow, not knowing where to go next.

Companies and Contracts

Musk’s companies run on government funding. Musk gets a lot of projects from government-based departments for his private companies, and his involvement now has just increased to the maximum.

SpaceX, the company that is supposed to lead us to Mars, constantly gets government contracts. The F.A.A. (Federal Aviation Administration) has also considered sliding in with SpaceX, with potential contracts about Starlink. These contracts provide millions of dollars to Elon’s company and will help the poor guy become slightly well-off, as he does need more money to survive.

Tesla, the company going for the EV revolution, has lost its momentum. Musk has been alienating the EV market consumers by leaning to the right, who think that if you throw a ball far enough, it will end up in the sun. EVs are just another way the government is taking over our lives. The right is less likely to buy EVs as well; some of them are climate change deniers and do not believe that global warming is a real issue. All they care about is why the gas prices are higher, while the US has lots of fossil fuels in their inventory. Such blind-sightedness allows the government to take advantage of the current situation and act however they feel like.

Elon has also managed to benefit himself by targeting other EV companies. He has removed EV chargers from government parking, which were owned by rival EV companies, and soon we could see Tesla chargers in the lot.

X, but really, who calls it that? Previously known as Twitter, or as Elon Musk and only Elon Musk calls it, ‘X’ has also taken a huge part in successfully delivering the campaign of the Trump administration. Spreading misinformation like it’s the truth through this platform and using the large amount of power it has. Due to a high amount of journalists on the platform and a high amount of leaders making it one of their most official platforms, it has given it tons of power as a government tool. While Musk has been raking up losses of billions, he has decided to use the billions he’s losing in X by making the platform an alternative to traditional media for information and the real “Truth”.

A Lot of Jobs

What’s the best way to cut spending, and save American Taxpayers’ money, you say? To cut down on jobs and fire people like in typical Silicon Valley style. Elon asked government employees to email and tell him what they do and have achieved so that he would know whether to fire them or not. Truly the greatest way to sort out employees and useful people. Maybe we can ask what Elon Musk does next and tell him whether we think his job is useful or not and worth the billions of dollars of contracts his companies are getting from the government.

Elon has been firing a lot of people and removing a lot of important government projects. Indirectly or directly, this will have an impact on everyone’s life. Some of these projects are on significant studies, like cancer, and while some might not be worth pursuing, Elon does not care which ones are which. He considers himself to be an average American with billions of dollars in net worth and thinks that he knows what is right for the average median taxpayer who is earning, well, for lack of a better word, substantially less. Elon does not know the average American and what they need and asks him to cut spending on their taxpayer money. Yet, funding himself with the money he cuts is probably not the right call.

Conclusion.

At the end of the day, there are 4 more years to this, and till the next election comes, the US might not even be a democracy anymore. Okay, that might be a bit of a stretch, but as things are going in the country, it’s hard to look at it from a positive side. Maybe things might get better after midterms, but until then, they look bleak. Trump might be president, but the billionaires are the ones running the country now, which Trump is a part of, so Republicans, you might have gotten what you voted for.
